PaperJacket Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of PaperJacket, including the PaperJacket website, subscriber application and related services.

By creating a PaperJacket account or using any part of the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

If you purchase a membership, your subscription and payments are also governed by our Subscription & Payment Terms, which form part of this agreement.

PaperJacket is a book creation product with the descriptor “Book Creator by Ansault & Co”. PaperJacket is operated and supplied by Ansault & Co Pty Ltd, which is the contracting party for these Terms.

References to “PaperJacket”, “we”, “us” and “our” in these Terms mean the PaperJacket product supplied by Ansault & Co Pty Ltd.

You must be at least 18 years old to create and hold a PaperJacket publishing account.

By creating an account you confirm that you are 18 or older and that the information you provide is accurate.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Each version carries its own version number and date, and the current version is always available on this page.

Where a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will notify account holders and, where appropriate, ask you to accept the updated version before you continue using affected features. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Your previous acceptances are retained on record — accepting a later version never erases the version you accepted before.

You must not use PaperJacket to create, upload, request or distribute content that is unlawful or that breaches these Terms. This includes, without limitation:

• child sexual exploitation or abuse material, or any sexualised content involving minors;
• other unlawful sexual content;
• content facilitating serious illegal activity;
• content that promotes or encourages harmful abuse, violence or self-harm;
• impersonation of a person or organisation in a way that is misleading or unlawful;
• unlawful violations of privacy, including material obtained without lawful basis;
• content that infringes the intellectual property or other rights of any person; and
• any other content prohibited under applicable law or PaperJacket safety requirements.

These categories are described at a customer level. Internal safety tooling, screening methods and enforcement detail are not part of this document.

To keep the service lawful and safe, we may take reasonable enforcement steps where justified, including:

• rejecting or declining a request before generation;
• blocking a generation or an export;
• placing a publication on compliance hold and asking for revision;
• restricting or suspending access where we reasonably believe these Terms or the law have been breached.

We do not exercise these rights arbitrarily. Where we suspend access we aim to tell you why and give you a reasonable opportunity to respond, subject to any legal or safety constraint.

You retain ownership of your content — your manuscripts, photographs, artwork, illustrations and other material you own and provide to the service.

To operate PaperJacket for you, you grant us a limited licence to host and use your content solely as needed to provide the service to you, including to store it, process it, analyse it as needed, format it, transform it where you instruct us to, generate the outputs you request and prepare publication files for you.

This licence exists only so we can provide and operate PaperJacket. It is not an assignment and it does not make us the owner or publisher of your material.

When you deliberately publish or share content publicly through the service, you grant other users the limited right to view it as you intend.

You are responsible for making sure you have the rights and permissions needed to use and publish everything in your publication — including manuscripts, images, artwork, photography, trademarks, logos, third-party material and any uploaded reference material.

Before final publication or export, PaperJacket asks you to confirm that you have the rights necessary to publish the content in your publication. This acknowledgement is your confirmation to us — it is a record, not a transfer of rights, and it does not create any rights you did not already have.

Our checking tools can help you avoid mistakes, but they cannot transfer ownership, grant third-party rights or confirm that you hold rights. Rights clearances are yours to obtain.

PaperJacket lets you create both AI-generated content (created substantially by AI from your instructions) and AI-assisted content (your own work that AI helps transform), as well as fully user-created work. We track the provenance of content created through the service and help you see, at a project level, where AI generation or assistance has been used.

You remain responsible for your publication, including for determining that it can lawfully be published and for complying with the rules of any external platform you publish it to.

External publishing platforms — including Amazon KDP, Etsy and other publishers — may require you to disclose AI-generated or AI-assisted content as a condition of publishing.

PaperJacket helps you prepare this disclosure from your project provenance, but we cannot promise that any platform will accept your disclosure, your content or your publication. Acceptance is always the platform decision.

PaperJacket is not Amazon, is not affiliated with Amazon, and is not endorsed by Amazon or Amazon KDP.

PaperJacket helps you prepare files, specifications and information to meet publishing requirements such as Amazon KDP print specifications. We do not publish on your behalf, and we do not promise that any platform will approve your publication.

The checks PaperJacket runs — KDP checks, print-readiness checks, publishing compliance checks and rights prompts — are assistance tools designed to reduce avoidable errors.

They are not legal advice, and they are not a guarantee of publication, a guarantee against infringement, or a guarantee that any external platform will accept your publication.

Before final publication or export you will be asked to confirm that you have the rights necessary to publish the content, and to complete any AI-disclosure acknowledgements required by the workflow.

This acknowledgement is required before the final export proceeds. It does not replace your own rights clearances under section 8.

PaperJacket memberships, AI Creation Credits, recurring billing, rollover, expiry, cancellation and refund provisions are set out in the Subscription & Payment Terms, which are incorporated into these Terms.

Payment card processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details.

The service relies on third parties, including payment processing (Stripe), AI model providers and external publishing platforms. Those services operate under their own terms, and their availability is outside our control.

Your use of Stripe and of any external publishing platform is also governed by your relationship with them.

We aim to keep the service available, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. We may modify, add or remove features, and we may suspend the service for maintenance or where justified for safety or legal reasons.

If we make a significant change that adversely affects your paid membership, we will tell you and explain your options.

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any non-excludable consumer guarantee or any right you may have under law.

Where our contract terms conflict with a non-excludable right, that right prevails.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim connected with the service is limited to the amounts you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. This does not limit rights you hold under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

You agree to use the service lawfully and to keep your account credentials secure.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. [The applicable State or Territory is to be confirmed as part of legal review.]

If any provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply.
